Wandering Freelancer

At a recent Melbourne Ruby meet, I was asked to speak about my travelling freelancer lifestyle, and the talk was recorded. I feel a little self-conscious about the topic, but perhaps you’ll find it interesting.

Massive thanks to James Healy for not only recording the talks that night, but producing the neat slides-and-video output. I’m looking forward to the Melbourne Ruby channel building up a good collection of sessions.

Also: I’ll be posting a review of my month working on Thinking Sphinx soon.

Pat's Guide to Cambodia

Bayon Temple

I’ve recently returned to Melbourne after spending four months based in Cambodia. I’ve learnt a stack about the country and culture, and I figure it might come in handy for others travelling through, so I’ve got a few blog posts lined up with various tidbits of information.

Some will be pretty generic – useful for Cambodia in general – while some parts will be focused on the city of Battambang (aka The Bong), which is where I was living.

West Coast Photos

As mentioned before on this blog, I’m currently doing some traveling around the world (so far just the west and east coasts of North America) – so here’s a few of my favourite photos from the trip thus far.

Oh, and I don’t know much about photography. I don’t use a DSLR. Suggestions on technique are very much welcome, but a lot of the terminology still goes over my head.
